Immigration Status and Changes to Medi-Cal Eligibility

Starting January 1, 2026 some adults will no longer be able to sign up for full-scope Medi-Cal coverage if they do not have satisfactory immigration status.

Individuals who:
– Are undocumented (live in the U.S. without legal permission), or
– Are lawfully present immigrant and are 21 and older and not pregnant

Full Scope Medi-Cal still available to:
– Children under 19
– Pregnant people
– Still meet all other Medi-Cal rules
